Residents in Live Oak, Duval, Jim Wells, Inland Kleberg, Inland Nueces, and Inland San Patricio counties should prepare for strong thunderstorms with wind gusts up to 50 mph. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Corpus Christi issued a Special Weather Statement at 6:55 PM CDT today, October 1, 2026, which remains effective until 8:00 PM CDT.

Doppler radar indicates strong thunderstorms extending from Midway to near Ben Bolt, moving east at 25 mph. This includes areas 14 miles west of Mathis to 10 miles south of Alice. Locations impacted include Kingsville, Alice, Robstown, Mathis, San Diego, Driscoll, Bishop, Odem, Orange Grove, Lake City, San Patricio, Midway, Alfred, Alfred-South La Paloma, Westdale, Tecalote, Banquete, and Alice Acres. Interstate 37 between mile markers 12 and 35, US Highway 281 between mile markers 646 and 686, and US Highway 77 between mile markers 654 and 692 are also affected.

The NWS advises monitoring weather conditions closely. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Seek safe shelter inside a building or vehicle due to frequent cloud-to-ground lightning. Torrential rainfall may lead to flash flooding; do not drive through flooded roadways.
