Special Events Speckled Perch Click here for more information Music Festival Click here for more information Parades Currently the major parades within our city are: - Speckled Perch Parade, usually the second Saturday in March to coincide with the Speckled Perch Festival - Christmas Parade, held in the evenings the second Saturday in December - Cattleman's Parade, held on Labor Day each year - Homecoming Parade for Okeechobee High School, Thursday before Homecoming Game Parade Permit: Though local roadways can be closed with the approval of the City Council, to close State roadways, approval must come from the Department of Transportation. State Roads include SR70 and US HWY 441. They require a closure request submitted to FDOT 45 days in advance of the closure. Use of City Parks and temporary street closures require an application and approval by various departments. Park Use and/or Temporary Street/Sidewalk Closing Form

Office of the Chair The Chair presides over all the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners meetings and appoints the chairpersons, vice chairpersons, and members of all commission committees. Additionally, the Chair oversees nine Board offices, including Commission Auditor, Intergovernmental Affairs, the Jay Malina International Trade Consortium of Miami-Dade County, Policy and Budgetary Affairs, Community Advocacy, Agenda Coordination, Protocol, BCC Media, and Support Staff Services. About the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners The Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners is the governing body of unincorporated Miami-Dade County, and has broad, regional powers to establish policies for services that transcend city boundaries. The government provides major metropolitan services countywide and city-type services for residents of the unincorporated areas. The Commissioners set policies and establish laws for the community. Commissioners are chosen in non-partisan, single-district elections. Miami-Dade County is structured into 13 districts. Residents choose only from among candidates running in the district in which they live. Commissioners serve four-year staggered terms, with elections scheduled every two years. Effective with the terms starting in 2012, Commissioners are limited to no more than two consecutive terms.

"Special Events Speckled Perch Click here for more information Music Festival Click here for more information Parades Currently the major parades within our city are: - Speckled Perch Parade, usually the second Saturday in March to coincide with the Speckled Perch Festival - Christmas Parade, held in the evenings the second Saturday in December - Cattleman's Parade, held on Labor Day each year - Homecoming Parade for Okeechobee High School, Thursday before Homecoming Game Parade Permit: Though local roadways can be closed with the approval of the City Council, to close State roadways, approval must come from the Department of Transportation. State Roads include SR70 and US HWY 441. They require a closure request submitted to FDOT 45 days in advance of the closure. Use of City Parks and temporary street closures require an application and approval by various departments. Park Use and/or Temporary Street/Sidewalk Closing Form"
