A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Clarke County, effective immediately as of 6:53 AM CDT, October 9, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL. The warning impacts Jackson, Thomasville, and Grove Hill. This warning remains in effect until 3:00 PM UTC today.

Residents should complete all remaining efforts to protect life and property now. Prepare for significant wind damage, with peak wind gusts potentially reaching 45 mph, and a potential for winds between 58 to 73 mph. Move to safe shelter before hazardous winds arrive.

Extensive rainfall flooding is also a significant threat. A Flood Watch is in effect, with 2-4 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. Major flooding may prompt evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and small streams may overflow, and many roads could become impassable. For local information, contact Clarke County EMA at 251-275-8775 or visit clarkecountyal.com/emergency-management.
