A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Clarke County, including Jackson, Thomasville, and Grove Hill, effective immediately as of October 9 at 4:07 AM CDT. The National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL warns of dangerous wind conditions and the potential for major flooding.

Residents are advised to complete all remaining efforts to protect life and property now. Move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. Peak wind gusts are forecast to reach 45 mph, with potential for winds between 58 to 73 mph. Significant damage to roofing, siding, porches, and sheds is possible, along with downed trees and power outages. Unsecured lightweight objects may become dangerous projectiles.

A Flood Watch is in effect, with 2-4 inches of rain expected and locally higher amounts. This poses a potential for major flooding, prompting evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may overflow, and floodwaters could enter structures. Heed all flood watches and warnings. The NWS does not anticipate a tornado threat at this time, and little to no storm surge inundation is expected.

This warning expires at 12:15 PM UTC today, October 9. For local information, contact Clarke County EMA at 251-275-8775 or visit clarkecountyal.com/emergency-management. Further details are available from NWS Mobile at www.weather.gov/mob.
