Wind Advisory Issued for Upper Hood River Valley
A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Upper Hood River Valley until 8:00 PM PDT today, with southwest winds of 20-30 mph and gusts up to 50 mph expected, potentially causing power outages and blowing unsecured objects.
Residents in the Upper Hood River Valley, particularly areas west of Oregon Route 281, should prepare for strong winds today. A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Portland OR, effective immediately until 8:00 PM PDT this evening, September 25, 2026.
Southwest winds are expected to reach 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph. These gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects, and tree limbs could be blown down. Widely scattered power outages are also expected. The NWS notes that full leaf cover on trees may increase the risk of wind damage to trees and limbs at lower wind speeds.
The NWS advises community members to use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects such as garbage cans and other items that can easily blow around to prevent damage or injury.
