Hollywood Utility Customers Face $35 Nonpayment Fee, Variable Reconnection Charges
Hollywood utility customers face a range of fees for service disconnections and reconnections, according to recent information. A service disconnection for nonpayment costs $35.00 per occurrence. Reconnection fees vary based on the time of day, with a $25.00 charge if an order is issued before 5:00 p.m. and a $50.00 charge for orders issued after 5:00 p.m.
These fees directly impact residents managing their utility accounts. An additional $35.00 field visit fee applies if meter access is obstructed or unavailable, meaning residents must ensure clear pathways to their meters at all times. Delinquent accounts may also incur an extra $50.00 deposit, adding to the financial burden for those behind on payments.
To reconnect service, customers must call 954-921-3938 between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. When requesting reconnection, customers must ensure all faucets are turned off to avoid additional fees for repeat visits. For temporary disconnections, such as for leak repairs or maintenance, residents can also call 954-921-3938; however, temporary disconnections do not close the utility account or stop billing.
Closing a utility account requires a written request submitted to [email protected]. This request must include the desired termination date, a forwarding address, and a copy of a valid photo ID. For property owners, terminated tenant accounts will revert to the owner's utility account, and terminated owner accounts will automatically open a utility account for the new owner.
Residents should familiarize themselves with these procedures to avoid unexpected charges and ensure continuous service. The city's utility department manages these processes to maintain service standards and account accuracy.
