Chipotle Mexican Grill released an original song, "From Ground to Sound," created in collaboration with the London Vegetable Orchestra. The track features instruments fashioned entirely from vegetables, such as corn flutes, jalapeño trumpets, and bell pepper horns. This unique composition aims to highlight the natural ingredients central to Chipotle's menu.
The song premiered at London's Abbey Road Studios. The project, developed by Beacon Street Studios with creative direction from KIDS, was first hinted at in Chipotle's "100 Creators" ads in August.
The London Vegetable Orchestra, a five-member group established in 2010, uses instruments made from produce like carrots, potatoes, and onions. Developing the instruments and the song involved a three-month collaborative effort. Chipotle chief brand officer Fernando Machado stated in a news release, "Real food has always been at the center of Chipotle. The instruments, the sound and the story are all rooted in what we do every day."
Patrick Johns of the London Vegetable Orchestra highlighted the organic nature of vegetable instrumentation. "Part of the craft is learning not to force an ingredient to sound a certain way but to find the sound that’s already there and build the music around it," Johns said.
The complete song and a companion film are available on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.
