A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Northern Harrison, effective immediately, by the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans, LA. This warning impacts the areas of Lyman and Saucier and is in effect until October 9, 2026, at 12:15 AM UTC.
Residents in affected areas should finalize preparations now as hazardous winds are expected. Peak wind forecasts are 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, with the potential for winds between 39 to 57 mph. Damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes is possible. Expect broken tree limbs, some downed trees, and potential road impassability due to debris. Scattered power and communications outages are also possible. Efforts to protect property should be underway.
Moderate flooding from heavy rain is also a significant threat, despite no significant rainfall forecast in terms of peak amounts. Emergency plans should include the potential for moderate flooding. Rivers and tributaries may become swollen, and small streams, creeks, canals, and ditches could overflow. Floodwaters may enter structures in some areas, and rapid inundation is possible at underpasses and low-lying spots. Heed any flood watches and warnings. Driving conditions will become hazardous, with potential road and bridge closures. For more information, visit www.msema.org.
