Extreme Storm Surge Warning for Southern Harrison; Act Now!

An Extreme Storm Surge Warning is in effect for Southern Harrison, including Gulfport, Biloxi, Pass Christian, and Long Beach, urging immediate action against life-threatening storm surge and strong winds.

A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Southern Harrison, including Gulfport, Biloxi, Pass Christian, and Long Beach, effective immediately by the National Weather Service New Orleans LA. This is an Extreme severity alert, with life-threatening storm surge possible through Saturday morning.

Residents in affected areas must shelter against life-threatening storm surge of greater than 3 feet above ground. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete, and evacuees should be in safe shelters well away from storm surge flooding. Remain sheltered in a safe location and do not venture outside.

Peak storm surge inundation of 3-5 feet above ground is possible. Additionally, winds are forecast at 20-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, posing a threat of limited wind damage. Secure loose outdoor objects now. Scattered power outages are possible. While no significant rainfall is forecast, localized flooding may occur in vulnerable areas. The warning is effective from October 9, 2026, at 4:12 AM CDT and expires at 12:15 PM CDT today.
