A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Northern Harrison, including Lyman and Saucier, effective immediately. The National Weather Service in New Orleans issued the warning at 10:01 PM CDT on October 8th, urging residents to complete preparations now as hazardous winds are expected to begin soon.

Wind speeds of 15-25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are anticipated, with potential for winds reaching 39-57 mph. Residents should secure outdoor property like porches, awnings, and unanchored mobile homes. Expect downed tree limbs, potential uprooted trees, and possible damage to fences and roadway signs. Scattered power and communications outages are likely, and some roads may become impassable due to debris.

While no significant rainfall is forecast, localized flooding is possible. Emergency plans should account for potential flooding from heavy rain. Heed any flood watches and warnings, as localized rainfall flooding could lead to evacuations, swollen streams, and brief road closures.

Tornadoes are not expected, but residents should remain informed of the latest forecast. This warning is set to expire at 6:15 AM UTC on October 9th. For more information, visit msema.org.
