A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Coastal Gulf areas, including Port Saint Joe and Cape San Blas, urging immediate sheltering due to dangerous winds, life-threatening storm surge, major flooding, and potential tornadoes.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Coastal Gulf areas, including Port Saint Joe and Cape San Blas, by NWS Tallahassee FL as of October 9 at 8:28 AM EDT. Residents in these areas are advised to shelter immediately due to dangerous winds, life-threatening storm surge, major flooding rain, and potential tornadoes.
Tropical Storm force winds of 35-45 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph, are expected from early this afternoon until early Saturday morning. Wind gusts could potentially reach 58 to 73 mph. Last-minute preparations should be complete. Now is the time to shelter from these dangerous winds.
Life-threatening storm surge of 4-7 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning, with potential for flooding greater than 6 feet above ground. All ordered evacuations should be complete, and evacuees should be in safe shelters. Remain sheltered in a safe location; do not venture outside. If necessary, move to upper floors to escape rising water.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with additional rainfall of 3-6 inches, and locally higher amounts, expected. Major rainfall flooding may prompt evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings. The situation is also favorable for several tornadoes. Stay within your shelter and move quickly to the safest place if a tornado warning is issued.
