A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Wewahitchka, effective immediately, as of 5:17 AM EDT on October 9, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee. Residents in Wewahitchka must act now to complete all preparations before hazardous winds begin.

The NWS forecasts potential winds of 58 to 73 mph, with peak winds of 15-25 mph and gusts up to 40 mph expected. Significant damage to roofing, siding, and mobile homes is possible. Several large trees may be snapped or uprooted, leading to impassable roads and scattered power outages. Efforts to protect life and property should be underway.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 4-8 inches of rain expected, potentially causing major flooding. Evacuations and rescues are likely. Heed all flood watches and warnings immediately. The situation is also favorable for several tornadoes, some potentially intense. Residents in manufactured homes or boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly. The warning expires at 1:30 PM UTC today.
