A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Wewahitchka by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL, effective immediately as of October 8 at 5:22 PM EDT. Residents must complete preparations now as hazardous conditions are imminent.

The NWS forecasts wind speeds of 20-30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, with potential for winds of 39 to 57 mph. Limited damage to property such as sheds and unanchored mobile homes is possible, along with downed tree limbs and scattered power outages. Efforts to protect property should be underway.

A Flood Watch is in effect, with an additional 4-8 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. Major rainfall flooding is anticipated, potentially leading to evacuations and rescues. Rivers and small streams may overflow, and many roads could become impassable. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life.

The situation is favorable for several tornadoes, with a few possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued. This warning is effective until October 9, 2026, at 1:30 AM UTC.
