Strong Thunderstorm Warning: Gusts Up to 50 MPH Expected

Residents in Craig, Mayes, and Delaware counties should seek shelter indoors immediately due to a strong thunderstorm identified by Doppler radar. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tulsa, Oklahoma, issued a Special Weather Statement today, September 20, at 3:03 PM CDT.

The storm, located near Langley, is moving northeast at 15 mph. Wind gusts up to 50 mph are the primary hazard. These winds could cause small tree limbs to fall and unsecured outdoor objects to be blown around.

Communities in the storm's path include Jay, Langley, Bernice, Ketchum, Spavinaw, Disney, Cleora, Chloeta, Cherokee State Park, Spavinaw State Park, Zena, and Disney Little Blue State Park.

This Special Weather Statement is effective immediately and is set to expire at 3:30 PM CDT today, September 20.

The NWS advises that if you are outdoors, you should consider seeking shelter inside a building for your safety.
