Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Delaware, Ottawa Counties Urged to Shelter Now

Residents in Delaware and Ottawa Counties are advised to seek immediate shelter as a Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued. The warning is in effect until 4:30 PM CDT today, September 20, 2026.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tulsa, Oklahoma, issued the alert at 4:02 PM CDT. At that time, a severe thunderstorm was located four miles northeast of Bernice State Park, moving northeast at 20 mph.

The primary hazards associated with this storm include 60 mph wind gusts and nickel-sized hail. These conditions are expected to cause damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Areas in or near the path of the storm include Grove, Fairland, Bernice, Wyandotte, Honey Creek State Park, Bernice State Park, Ottawa, and Twin Bridges State Park. This also includes Interstate 44 near mile marker 299.

For your protection, the NWS advises moving to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building immediately.
