Wind Advisory Issued: Secure Loose Items, Drive with Caution Until 11 AM PDT
A Wind Advisory is in effect until 11 AM PDT today for parts of the Tualatin Valley, Portland Metro area, Willamette Valley, and Clark County, with gusts up to 45 mph expected. Secure loose objects and drive with caution.
A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Portland OR, effective immediately and continuing until 11 AM PDT today, September 25. Residents in affected areas should take action to secure outdoor objects and exercise caution when driving.
South winds are expected to reach 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph. This advisory impacts several areas, including Oregon's East Central Willamette Valley, East Portland Metro, Inner Portland Metro, Outer Southeast Portland Metro, Portland West Hills and Chehalem Mountain, Tualatin Valley, and West Central Willamette Valley Counties. In Washington, East Clark County Lowlands, Inner Vancouver Metro, and North Clark County Lowlands Counties are also affected.
Gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects. The NWS warns that tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages may result. Due to full leaf cover on trees, wind damage may occur at lower wind speeds than usual.
The NWS advises using extra caution when driving, particularly if operating a high-profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects such as garbage cans and any other items that can easily be blown by the wind.
