Wind Advisory Issued for Portland Metro, Willamette Valley Until 11 AM PDT
A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Portland Metro area, Willamette Valley, and parts of Southwest Washington until 11:00 AM PDT today, September 25, 2026, with south winds up to 45 mph expected to cause scattered power outages and blow around unsecured objects.
Residents in the Lower Columbia River, Tualatin Valley, West Hills and Chehalem Mountains, Inner and Outer Portland Metro areas, West and East Central Willamette Valley, Clackamas County Cascade Foothills, and parts of Southwest Washington should secure outdoor objects and exercise caution while driving this morning. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Portland has issued a Wind Advisory, effective until 11:00 AM PDT today, September 25, 2026.
South winds are expected to reach 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph. These gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects, and tree limbs could be blown down. Widely scattered power outages are also expected. The NWS notes that full leaf cover on trees may increase the risk of wind damage at lower wind speeds than usual.
Drivers, particularly those operating high-profile vehicles, are advised to use extra caution. Secure outdoor items such as garbage cans and other objects that can easily be moved by the wind. This advisory affects portions of northwest Oregon and southwest Washington, including the Willapa Hills, Cowlitz County Lowlands, North Clark County Lowlands, Inner and East Vancouver Metro, and South Washington Cascade Foothills.
