Eutaw residents are urged to finalize preparations immediately as a Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Greene County, effective from October 9 at 6:57 PM CDT until October 10 at 3:00 AM CDT. The National Weather Service (NWS) Birmingham AL warns of potential tropical storm force winds and moderate flooding rain.

Peak wind forecasts are 10-20 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, with a potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Residents should move to safe shelter before hazardous winds begin. Expect potential damage to lightweight structures, downed tree limbs, and some road impassability due to debris. Scattered power and communication outages are possible.

A Flood Watch is also in effect. An additional 1-3 inches of rain is expected, with locally higher amounts, posing a significant risk of moderate rainfall flooding. Be prepared for possible evacuations and rescues. Heed any flood watches and warnings; failure to act may result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and tributaries may overflow, and low-lying areas could experience rapid inundation.

The NWS indicates the situation is unfavorable for tornadoes, with none expected at this time. However, gusty winds from showers and thunderstorms are still possible. For more information, visit ready.gov/hurricanes.
