A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Greene County, including Eutaw, effective immediately by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL. The warning was issued tonight, October 9, at 9:56 PM CDT and remains in effect until 6:00 AM CDT tomorrow, October 10.
Residents should plan for hazardous winds reaching 10-20 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, with a potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Damage to porches, awnings, and unanchored mobile homes is possible, along with broken tree limbs and scattered power outages.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 1-3 inches of rain expected, potentially leading to moderate flooding. Emergency plans should include the possibility of evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers may overspill banks, and roads could become impassable. Tornadoes are not expected, but gusty winds may occur.
