Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Inland Franklin; Act Immediately
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Inland Franklin County, with immediate action required due to potential hazardous winds, major flooding, and tornadoes; residents should seek safe shelter and prepare for impacts.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Inland Franklin County by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee, effective immediately as of October 9 at 10:57 PM EDT. Residents must complete all preparations and move to safe shelter before hazardous winds arrive.
Peak winds of 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are forecast, with potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Limited damage to property such as porches and sheds, broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages are possible. Roads may become impassable due to debris, particularly in urban or heavily wooded areas.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with an additional 1 inch of rainfall expected, carrying a potential for major flooding. Evacuations and rescues are likely, and residents in flood-vulnerable areas should strongly consider protective actions. Rivers and tributaries may overflow, and many structures could be impacted by floodwaters. A Tornado Watch is also in effect, with potential for several tornadoes. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safer shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings, and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued.
