Residents across the eastern Florida Panhandle, Florida Big Bend, southeastern Alabama, and southwestern Georgia should continue to exercise extreme caution as Post-Tropical Cyclone Isaias moves north. The National Weather Service in Tallahassee has issued a Tropical Cyclone Local Statement at 2:41 AM EDT, effective until 10:45 AM EDT today.
A Tropical Storm Warning is now in effect for numerous counties, including Coffee, Dale, Henry, Geneva, Houston, North Walton, Central Walton, Holmes, Washington, Jackson, Inland Bay, Calhoun, Inland Gulf, Inland Franklin, Gadsden, Leon, Inland Jefferson, Inland Wakulla, South Walton, Baker, Clay, Randolph, Terrell, Dougherty, Lee, Worth, Early, Miller, Baker, Mitchell, Colquitt, Seminole, Decatur, Grady, and Thomas. Hurricane Warnings have been cancelled for affected areas.
A Storm Surge Warning and Tropical Storm Warning remain in effect for coastal areas including Coastal Bay, Coastal Franklin, Coastal Gulf, Coastal Jefferson, Coastal Wakulla, and South Walton. A Storm Surge Warning is also in effect for Coastal Dixie and Coastal Taylor. Expect inundation of 2 to 4 feet above normally dry ground, with coastal saltwater flooding possibly lingering through Saturday.
Post-Tropical Cyclone Isaias is moving north at 20 mph with maximum sustained winds of 65 mph. While the heavy rain threat has largely subsided, a Flood Watch remains in effect areawide until this evening due to potential redevelopment of heavy rain bands. Residents should be vigilant for downed trees, power lines, standing water, and continued hazardous beach conditions. A risk of isolated tornadoes also remains possible through this afternoon, particularly for the Florida Big Bend and parts of southwest Georgia.
Keep cell phones charged and in power-saving mode. Do not risk your life for photos or videos. If you are prone to flooding or in a storm surge area, be prepared for rapidly rising water. The next update is expected around 6 AM EDT.
