Tropical Storm Warning for Inland Franklin County: Prepare for Hazards
Inland Franklin County is under a Tropical Storm Warning, effective immediately. Prepare for hazardous winds, potential major flooding, and the possibility of tornadoes. Move to safe shelter now.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Inland Franklin County by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL, effective immediately as of October 10 at 2:07 AM EDT. This warning remains in effect until 10:15 AM EDT on October 10.
Residents in Inland Franklin County should immediately move to safe shelter as hazardous winds are expected. Peak wind forecasts are 10-15 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, but the potential exists for winds between 39 to 57 mph. Limited damage to properties like porches, awnings, and sheds is possible, along with downed tree limbs and potential power outages. Remaining efforts to protect property should be completed as soon as possible.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with potential for major flooding from heavy rain. Emergency plans should include the possibility of evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and small streams may overflow, and floodwaters could enter structures. Driving conditions will become dangerous, with many road closures expected.
There is also a favorable situation for several tornadoes, with a few possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats are urged to relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings, and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued.
