Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Inland Franklin: Act Now
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Inland Franklin County until October 9, with immediate action required for hazardous winds, major flooding potential, and a significant tornado threat.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Inland Franklin County by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL, effective immediately as of October 8 at 11:05 PM EDT. This warning remains in effect until October 9 at 7:15 AM UTC.
Residents in Inland Franklin County must act now to complete preparations for hazardous wind conditions. Plan for winds between 10-20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, with a potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Secure loose outdoor objects like porches, awnings, carports, and sheds. Be prepared for scattered power outages and impassable roads due to debris.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with forecasts for an additional 4-8 inches of rain, and locally higher amounts. This presents a potential for major flooding. Heed all flood watches and warnings; evacuations and rescues are likely. Flood waters could enter structures and make roads dangerous.
Furthermore, the situation is favorable for several tornadoes, with a potential for a few intense ones. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter now.
There is little to no threat of storm surge flooding. For more information, visit NWS Tallahassee, Florida Division of Emergency Management, or Franklin County Emergency Management.
