A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Hamilton in Harris County, effective immediately and expiring at 7:00 PM EDT tonight, October 8, 2026. The National Weather Service (NWS) Peachtree City GA issued the alert at 2:52 PM EDT, urging residents to complete preparations now.

Forecasters anticipate peak winds of 10-20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, with the potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. This could cause limited damage to property, downed tree limbs, and scattered power outages. Efforts to protect property should be underway, and residents should act now to secure loose outdoor objects.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 1-3 inches of rain possible and localized higher amounts. This presents a significant threat of moderate flooding, potentially leading to evacuations and rescues. Rivers, tributaries, and small streams may overflow, and roads could become impassable. Heed all flood watches and warnings.

Furthermore, conditions are favorable for several tornadoes, with a few possibly intense. This presents a significant threat. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should prepare to relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings, and be ready to shelter quickly if one is issued.
