Air Force Senior Airman Stops Dog Attack in Fort Walton Beach

Air Force Senior Airman Stops Dog Attack on Holmes Boulevard

Fort Walton Beach Police Chief Robert Bage presented U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Marcus Wu with a certificate of appreciation at the May 19 City Council meeting for intervening in a dog attack on April 22.

Wu and a fellow airman were driving on Holmes Boulevard when they saw a woman being mauled by one of two dogs. Wu stopped his car and wrestled with the animal until police arrived.

"We believe that if it wasn't for his actions, that lady would have been seriously injured, possibly killed," Bage told the council.

Wu credited his fellow airman with helping during the rescue. "I couldn't have done it alone if I was just there by myself that night," Wu said.
