Two Juveniles Arrested in Palm Coast Truck Burglary
Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested two juveniles, including a 15-year-old from Bunnell, after investigating a car burglary in Palm Coast's Union Court area that resulted in the recovery of $1,550 in stolen fishing poles.
On May 3, a resident reported that someone broke into an unlocked truck parked in the driveway and stole multiple custom fishing poles. Detectives reviewed a Snapchat video that appeared to show the stolen poles and confirmed a suspect vehicle was in the area the night of the burglary.
On May 5, detectives interviewed Jonathan Brown, 15, of Bunnell, and a 12-year-old from Palm Coast. Both juveniles' mothers were present. Detectives recovered the stolen fishing poles from locations associated with the two and returned them to the victim.
On May 13, detectives arrested both juveniles on juvenile arrest orders for burglary of an unoccupied conveyance and grand theft. They were processed at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and transferred to the Volusia County Department of Juvenile Justice.
Sheriff Rick Staly urged residents to lock vehicle doors and remove valuables. "If you leave your vehicle unlocked, you're practically baiting thieves," Staly said.
