Fayette County Water System Wins State Competition, Advances to Nationals

Three operators from Fayette County Water System won the Georgia American Water Works Association Top Ops Competition in April, defeating the defending state champions and earning a trip to the national championship in Washington, D.C., this summer.

Jason Sears, lab analyst; Eddie Cove, plant operator II; and Dylan White, plant operator III competed as "Splash Masters" at the Georgia Association of Water Professionals Spring Conference. The competition tested them on math, system operations, maintenance, safety, laboratory procedures, and Safe Drinking Water Act regulations through rapid-fire questions.

"Their dedication and weekly preparation paid off," said Susan Lee, production and operations manager.

This marked the third year Fayette County operators entered the statewide competition.
