A Heat Advisory is in effect until October 8 at 10:00 PM PDT for the Bay Area, with temperatures up to 105°F expected; residents must hydrate and take precautions against heat-related illness.
A Heat Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Francisco CA, urging residents to take immediate precautions against dangerously high temperatures expected through Thursday, October 8, at 10:00 PM PDT. This advisory is critical for anyone without effective cooling or adequate hydration.
Forecasts indicate maximum temperatures ranging from the mid-90s to near 105°F across affected areas. Minimum overnight temperatures will remain mild, offering limited relief. The NWS states that these conditions could impact health systems, heat-sensitive industries, and infrastructure.
The Heat Advisory is in effect for a wide region, including the Sonoma Coastal Range, North Bay Interior Mountains, North Bay Interior Valleys, San Francisco Bay Shoreline, East Bay Interior Valleys, Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Clara Valley (including San Jose), Eastern Santa Clara Hills, East Bay Hills, Southern Salinas Valley/Arroyo Seco and Lake San Antonio, Santa Lucia Mountains and Los Padres National Forest, and Mountains of San Benito County and Interior Monterey County (including Pinnacles National Park).
Residents are advised to hydrate continuously by drinking water and to offer water to vulnerable individuals. When outdoors, wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening hours. Be aware of heat exhaustion and heat stroke symptoms and take immediate action if they occur. Crucially, never leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles, as interior temperatures can become lethal within minutes.
