A Storm Surge Watch and Hurricane Watch have been issued for Escambia Coastal, including Pensacola, Pensacola Beach, and Perdido Bay, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL, effective October 7 at 11:09 AM CDT.

Life-threatening storm surge inundation of 4-7 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuation preparations should be underway. Assemble disaster supplies and know your evacuation route. Leave if evacuation orders are given for your area; failure to heed orders may result in loss of life.

Hurricane-force winds (75-95 mph with gusts to 115 mph, equivalent to a Category 1 or 2 hurricane) are possible from Friday afternoon until early Saturday morning. Efforts to protect life and property should be rigorously underway. Complete preparations now before hazardous winds begin.

Extensive impacts are expected, including considerable wind damage, widespread power outages, and major flooding from 6-10 inches of rain. A few tornadoes are also possible. For evacuation and shelter information, contact Escambia County EMA at 850-471-6400 or visit myscambia.com/beready. Stay informed at weather.gov/mob. This watch expires October 7 at 7:15 PM UTC.
