A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Escambia Coastal, including Pensacola, Pensacola Beach, and Perdido Bay, effective immediately, October 7 at 9:53 PM CDT, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL. This warning indicates a danger of life-threatening inundation from rising water moving inland from the coastline within the next 36 hours. Evacuation efforts should be completed soon.
Life-threatening storm surge of 4-7 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. If evacuation orders are given for your area, leave immediately to avoid being cut off from emergency services. Extensive structural damage to buildings, washed-out roads, and severe beach erosion are potential impacts.
Hurricane-force winds of 65-85 mph with gusts to 110 mph are expected from Friday afternoon until early Saturday morning. This poses a potential for 74 to 110 mph winds. Plan for life-threatening wind conditions and prepare for considerable damage to roofs, mobile homes, and significant power outages. Complete all preparations now before winds become hazardous.
Heavy rainfall of 4-8 inches, with locally higher amounts, is forecasted, bringing a potential for major flooding. Heed any flood watches and warnings. A few tornadoes are also possible.
