Wind Advisory: Gusts Up To 50 MPH Expected in Elko, White Pine, Nye Counties
A Wind Advisory is in effect for Southeastern Elko, White Pine, and parts of Nye Counties from 11 AM today until Monday, October 12, with gusts up to 50 mph expected; drivers and residents should secure outdoor objects and use caution.
Residents in Southeastern Elko County, White Pine County, Northwestern Nye County, and Northeastern Nye County should prepare for a Wind Advisory issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Elko NV, effective from 11 AM PDT today, October 10, until 5 AM PDT Monday, October 12.
South to southwest winds are expected to reach speeds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts potentially as high as 50 mph. These strong winds can make driving challenging, particularly for high-profile vehicles. The NWS advises using extra caution on the roads.
Impacts include unsecured objects being blown around, potential downed tree limbs, and a few power outages. Strong winds this afternoon could also reduce visibility to one mile or less in some areas due to blowing dust. The NWS strongly recommends securing all outdoor objects before the winds intensify.
