Horses scatter upon arrival of the water truck to Cherry Springs within the Maverick-Medicine Herd Management Area. Currently Cherry Springs produces 10 gallons of water an hour. In hot weather, horses should consume approximately 20 gallons a day.

Maverick Medicine Gather (9455402760) (2)
Sunrise Aug. 6 on the Maverick Range in the Maverick-Medicine Herd Management Area. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Elko District, Wells Field Office just completed a water trap to gather and remove excess wild horses from lands adjacent to the Cherry Spring conveyance in the Maverick Medicine Herd Management Area. The water trap was necessary to prevent a further decline in animal condition caused by minimal forage growth and reduced water availability due to severe drought conditions.
