A Blowing Dust Advisory has been issued for Humboldt, Northern Elko, Northern Lander, and Northern Eureka Counties until 7:00 PM PDT, with hazardous driving conditions and reduced visibility expected.
A Blowing Dust Advisory is in effect for portions of Humboldt, Northern Elko, Northern Lander, and Northern Eureka Counties until 7:00 PM PDT this evening, October 10, 2026. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Elko, NV issued this advisory at 2:48 PM PDT.
Visibility is expected to be reduced to between one-quarter and three miles due to blowing dust. This will create hazardous driving conditions, particularly on I-80 from Battle Mountain west to Golconda.
Residents with respiratory problems are advised to stay indoors until the dust storm passes. Drivers should be prepared for a sudden and significant drop in visibility. If you encounter blowing dust or sand on the roadway or see it approaching, pull off the road as far as possible, put your vehicle in park, turn off all lights, and keep your foot off the brake pedal. Remember the safety guideline: 'Pull Aside, Stay Alive'.
