Residents in Baker, Bradford, Eastern Alachua, Western Clay, Western Putnam, and Western Duval counties are advised to seek shelter indoors as strong thunderstorms move through the area. The National Weather Service (NWS) Jacksonville FL issued a Special Weather Statement at 7:37 PM EDT, effective until 8:15 PM EDT tonight, October 3, 2026.

Doppler radar indicates an area of strong thunderstorms near Lake Geneva, or near Keystone Heights, moving north at 20 mph. The primary hazards associated with this storm include wind gusts around 40 mph and minor flooding due to heavy rainfall.

Locations impacted include Starke, Keystone Heights, Melrose, Middleburg, George's Lake, Oakleaf Plantation, Lake Geneva, Florahome, Camp Blanding, and Doctors Inlet. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor flooding due to heavy rainfall is possible.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Drivers are urged not to drive vehicles through flooded roadways. If you are outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building immediately.
