Residents in northwestern Duval County and western Nassau County, Florida, are advised to take immediate shelter as the National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning effective until 8:15 PM EDT tonight, October 3.
At 7:39 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Bryceville, approximately 8 miles south of Callahan, moving north at 20 mph. This storm is capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts, as indicated by radar.
Impacts are expected to include damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations potentially impacted include Hilliard, Callahan, Ratliff, and Nassau Village-Ratliff.
Remain alert for a possible tornado. Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado, go at once into the basement or a small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
