Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Seminole County: Prepare for Severe Weather
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Seminole County, with residents urged to seek shelter immediately due to severe winds, potential major flooding, and the high likelihood of tornadoes.
SEMINOLE COUNTY – Residents in Seminole County, particularly Donalsonville, are under a Tropical Storm Warning issued by NWS Tallahassee FL as of October 9 at 11:05 AM EDT. This severe warning is effective immediately and expires October 9 at 7:15 PM UTC.
Immediate action is required. Move to safe shelter before hazardous winds arrive, with peak gusts up to 45 mph. Prepare for potential limited wind damage including unsecured objects being blown about, many large tree limbs breaking, and scattered power outages. Remaining efforts to protect property should be completed as soon as possible.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with additional rainfall of 3-6 inches expected, potentially leading to major flooding. Evacuations and rescues are likely. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to take action could result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and small streams may rapidly overflow their banks, and flood waters can enter structures, making many roads impassable. Consider protective actions, especially if you are in a flood-vulnerable area.
The situation is very favorable for tornadoes, with the potential for many, some possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats are urged to relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly. Tornadoes can cause extensive damage, power loss, and communications failures, and may hinder emergency efforts.
