A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Seminole County until 9:30 AM EDT today, October 9, 2026, with immediate threats of hazardous winds, major flooding, and several tornadoes; residents should complete all preparations now.
SEMINOLE COUNTY, GA – A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Seminole County, effective immediately from 5:17 AM EDT today, October 9, 2026, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee, FL. This warning is set to expire at 1:30 PM UTC (9:30 AM EDT).
Residents in Donalsonville and surrounding areas should complete all preparations now for hazardous tropical storm force winds. Peak wind forecasts are 15-25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, with potential for winds of 39 to 57 mph. Limited damage to porches, awnings, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes is possible. Expect large tree limbs to break and scattered power outages. Unsecured lightweight objects will be blown about. Complete preparations before winds become hazardous.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with an additional 3-6 inches of rain expected, potentially leading to major flooding. Evacuations and rescues are likely. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and small streams may overflow, and floodwaters could enter many structures. Roads and bridges may become impassable or washed out.
The situation is favorable for tornadoes, with a potential for several, some possibly intense. Emergency plans should account for tornadoes with larger damage paths. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter immediately. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly. Scattered tornadoes can cause significant damage, power loss, and communications failures.
