New Mexico Corrections Department (NMCD)
About the Department The New Mexico Corrections Department (NMCD) is one of the state’s largest agencies, responsible for safe and secure prisons and community supervision. The NMCD operates eight prison facilities, housing more than 5,600 incarcerated individuals. It also includes four probation and parole regions, supervising more than 15,000 people in communities across New Mexico. The department is committed to public safety and accountability, while also providing programs and services. Through its Reentry Division, the NMCD and community volunteers provide education and career technical training to help incarcerated individuals prepare for release and successfully return to their communities. Alert: Missing Subject The Grant County Sheriff's Office is seeking assistance in locating Billy Gene Hill, an 83-year-old white male, 5'10", 180 lbs with grey hair and blue eyes. He was last seen in the Santa Rita area driving a tan 2007 Ford Ranger pickup truck with an Arizona license plate BGB1685 and a white camper shell. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the Grant County Sheriff's Office at (575) 574-0100.

Doña Ana County Sheriff's Office Details Comprehensive Law Enforcement Services
The Doña Ana County Sheriff's Office provides comprehensive law enforcement services to the citizens of Doña Ana County. Our dedicated team of deputies works tirelessly to ensure public safety, maintain order, and enforce the law across all unincorporated areas and contract municipalities within the county. **Patrol and Traffic Enforcement** Our deputies are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week, patrolling county roads and neighborhoods. They respond to calls for service, conduct proactive patrols to deter crime, and enforce traffic laws to promote road safety. This includes responding to emergencies, conducting welfare checks, and assisting stranded motorists. **Criminal Investigations** The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is responsible for investigating serious crimes such that occur within the Sheriff's Office jurisdiction. Our detectives are highly trained in crime scene processing, evidence collection, interviewing witnesses and suspects, and preparing cases for prosecution. They work closely with the District Attorney's Office to bring offenders to justice. **Civil Process** The Sheriff's Office is responsible for serving civil papers, including summonses, subpoenas, writs of garnishment, and protective orders. This ensures that legal proceedings can move forward efficiently and that individuals are properly notified of legal actions against them. **Specialized Units and Programs** To address the diverse needs of our community, the Doña Ana County Sheriff's Office operates several specialized units: **Gang Unit:** Focuses on the identification, investigation, and suppression of gang-related criminal activity. **DWI Unit:** Dedicated to enforcing laws against driving while intoxicated (DWI) to reduce alcohol and drug-related traffic fatalities and injuries. **SWAT Team:** A highly trained tactical unit that responds to high-risk situations, such as hostage crises, barricaded subjects, and active shooter events. **K-9 Unit:** Utilizes highly trained police dogs for various tasks, including suspect apprehension, narcotics detection, and search and rescue operations. **Community Engagement** Beyond enforcement, we believe in building strong relationships with the community. Our deputies participate in community events, offer crime prevention tips, and engage with residents to foster trust and collaboration. We encourage citizens to report suspicious activities and work together with us to keep Doña Ana County safe. Unknown County is a leader in GIS mapping technology. We use ESRI's ArcGIS platform and can provide data in a variety of formats. We are happy to serve our community by providing GIS data, free of charge, to the public upon request. Our office uses an FTP site for larger datasets or we can provide the data via a CD/DVD. Road Closure - Grant County Road A017 Grant County Road A017 will be closed starting Monday, August 28, 2023, for approximately 2-3 months. The closure is due to road construction that will replace three low-water crossings. Residents needing access to property past the closures should plan for an alternative route.

Indian Affairs Department
The New Mexico Indian Affairs Department (IAD) serves as the primary liaison between the State of New Mexico and the state's 23 federally recognized Nations, Tribes, and Pueblos. The department works to strengthen the government-to-government relationship between the State and tribal governments by facilitating communication, coordination, and collaboration on issues of mutual concern including infrastructure, education, health, environmental justice, and public safety. Most Popular Services Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons The Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons (MMIP) is a crisis that impacts Indigenous peoples and communities. MMIP refers to the extreme high rates of violence that Indigenous Peoples face, and the lack of data around missing and murdered Indigenous Peoples. This crisis exists both on and off reservations and high rates of MMIP exist in cities. The New Mexico Department of Indian Affairs has worked to address this issue statewide to ensure that MMIP issues are highlighted. Tribal Infrastructure Fund (TIF) The Tribal Infrastructure Fund was created by the Tribal Infrastructure Act in 2005. This act recognizes that many of New Mexico's tribal communities lack basic infrastructure, including, but not limited to water and wastewater systems, roads, and electrical power lines. Capital Outlay Capital Outlay funds are used to build, improve or equip physical property that will be used by the public. Roads, computers, museums, playgrounds, schools, irrigation ditches, hospitals, lands, and furniture can all be capital outlay projects. Cultural Equity with Native Nations The State-Tribal Collaboration Act mandated training is all new for FY20! Formerly known as "Cultural Competency," the course is now titled "Building Cultural Equity with Native Nations," and it is open for enrollment on the ELM system. Indigenous Youth Council The Indigenous Youth Council (IYC) was formed in February 2021 following two listening sessions that the New Mexico Indian Affairs Department (IAD) held with tribal youth from across the state. Issues discussed ranged from the desire to have access to higher education resources to behavioral and mental health needs for tribal communities. Participants also voiced the desire to have more intertribal connections between the Nations, Tribes, and Pueblos in the state.
