A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Baldwin Central, including Daphne, Fairhope, and Foley, by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Mobile, AL. This warning is effective immediately, as of October 9 at 9:49 PM CDT, and remains in effect through Saturday morning.

Residents in these areas should shelter immediately from dangerous winds and life-threatening storm surge. Peak wind forecasts are 25-35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph, with a potential for winds reaching 58 to 73 mph. Last-minute efforts to protect life and property should now be complete, and significant wind damage is possible.

A life-threatening storm surge of greater than 3 feet above ground is possible, with a potential for 2-4 feet above ground in surge-prone areas. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete, and evacuees should be in shelters well away from storm surge flooding. Remain sheltered in a safe location and do not venture outside.

Moderate flooding rain is also anticipated, with an additional around 1 inch of rainfall expected. This could lead to moderate rainfall flooding, prompting evacuations and rescues. Heed any flood watches and warnings. For evacuation and shelter information, contact Baldwin County EMA at 251-972-6807 or visit www.baldwincountyal.gov/departments/EMA.
