Extreme Storm Surge Warning for Baldwin Coast: Shelter Immediately
An Extreme Storm Surge Warning is in effect for Baldwin Coastal areas, including Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Fort Morgan, with life-threatening surge and dangerous winds requiring immediate shelter.
A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Baldwin Coastal areas, including Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Fort Morgan, effective immediately until 6:15 AM UTC on October 10. The National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL warns of an extreme threat with life-threatening storm surge possible, reaching 3-5 feet above ground in surge-prone areas.
Residents in these areas should shelter against life-threatening storm surge. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete, and evacuees must be in shelters well away from potential flooding. Do not venture outside.
Tropical Storm force winds of 30-40 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph, are expected through the next few hours. Dangerous wind impacts are unfolding, and the NWS advises that last-minute efforts to protect life and property should now be complete. The area remains subject to significant wind damage. Shelter from dangerous winds immediately.
Additionally, around 1 inch of rainfall is expected, with potential for moderate flooding that may prompt evacuations and rescues. Heed any flood watches and warnings. The tornado threat remains low.
