BALDWIN COASTAL – Residents in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Fort Morgan are under an immediate Storm Surge Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL, effective October 9 at 9:49 PM CDT.

Life-threatening storm surge of 3 to 5 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete, and evacuees should be in shelters away from flood zones. All residents must remain sheltered in a safe location and not venture outside.

Tropical Storm force winds of 30-40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are expected through the next few hours. Dangerous winds are unfolding, and the NWS advises sheltering from these conditions now as significant wind damage is possible.

Additional rainfall of approximately 1 inch is forecasted, with potential for moderate flooding. Emergency plans should account for possible evacuations and rescues. Heed any flood watches and warnings.

For evacuation and shelter information, contact Baldwin County EMA at 251-972-6807 or visit www.baldwincountyal.gov/departments/EMA. For more storm information, visit NWS Mobile at www.weather.gov/mob.
