A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Baldwin Coastal areas, including Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Fort Morgan, by the National Weather Service Mobile AL, effective October 9 at 3:55 PM CDT. This is an immediate and extreme threat to life and property.

Residents in these areas are advised that life-threatening storm surge flooding of greater than 6 feet above ground is possible. All ordered evacuations should be complete, and evacuees should be in shelters well away from storm surge flooding. Remain sheltered in a safe location and do not venture outside. If necessary, move to upper floors to escape rising water. The window of concern for storm surge is through Saturday morning.

Dangerous winds are also expected, with peak gusts up to 80 mph possible until early Saturday morning. Last-minute efforts to protect life and property should now be complete, and residents should shelter from dangerous wind. A Flood Watch is in effect, with an additional 1-3 inches of rain possible, leading to potential major flooding. Emergency plans should include the potential for major flooding from heavy rain, and residents should heed all flood watches and warnings.

There is also a potential for a few tornadoes. Stay within your shelter and remain informed of the latest tornado situation. If a tornado warning is issued, move quickly to the safest place within your shelter.
