BALDWIN CENTRAL – An Extreme Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Baldwin Central, impacting Daphne, Fairhope, and Foley. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Mobile, AL, issued the warning today, October 9, at 6:53 PM CDT, effective immediately until 3:00 AM UTC on October 10.
Residents in these areas should shelter immediately. Life-threatening storm surge of 2-4 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete; evacuees must be in shelters well away from storm surge flooding. Do not venture outside.
Winds of 30-40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph are expected through the next few hours. Significant wind damage is possible. A Flood Watch is also in effect, with potential for major flooding from heavy rain. Heed all flood watches and warnings. The NWS also indicates a situation somewhat favorable for isolated tornadoes, urging continued vigilance.
