Dania residents, particularly those near the Dania Beach Pier, east of the Coastal Construction Line, and along the Intracoastal Waterway and its canals, live in Special Flood Hazard areas. Residents can confirm if their property is in a flood zone by contacting the Town's Public Works Department at (954) 640-4232.
The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), established in 1968, offers affordable flood insurance for properties in high-risk flood zones. Dania's participation allows residents and businesses to purchase coverage for both buildings and contents.
In 2010, Dania achieved a Class 7 Community System Rating (CSR). This designation gives property owners a 15 percent discount on flood insurance policies in Special Flood Hazard Areas and a 5 percent discount in Non-Special Flood Hazard Areas.
Flooding remains a common natural disaster. Flood insurance is available to all property owners, including homeowners, renters, and business owners, regardless of their property's specific risk level within the town.
