CRENSHAW, AL – A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Brantley and Luverne by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL, effective immediately as of October 9 at 1:02 PM CDT. Residents in these areas should complete all preparations and seek shelter as dangerous winds are expected to begin early this evening.

Peak winds are forecast to be 30-40 mph with gusts up to 55 mph, with potential for strong tropical storm force winds (58-73 mph). These conditions are expected to persist until Saturday morning. The NWS advises that unfolding impacts from the main wind event are already occurring.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 2-4 inches of rain expected, and localized higher amounts. This could lead to major flooding, prompting potential evacuations and rescues. Rivers, streams, and canals may overflow, and floodwaters could enter structures. Residents should heed all flood watches and warnings.

The NWS also indicates a potential for a few tornadoes. Residents should remain in their shelters, staying informed of the latest tornado situation, and be prepared to move to the safest place within their shelter if a tornado warning is issued.

For local information, contact the Crenshaw County EMA at 334-335-4538. For storm impacts, visit www.weather.gov/mob. This warning is set to expire on October 9 at 9:15 PM UTC.
