CRENSHAW – A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Crenshaw County, including Brantley and Luverne, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL this morning, October 10, at 1:02 AM CDT. Residents must shelter immediately due to dangerous winds and prepare for major flooding.
Strong Tropical Storm force winds are expected, with peak wind gusts between 50-65 mph and gusts up to 80 mph. These dangerous conditions are expected through the next few hours. Last-minute preparations to protect life and property should already be complete. Now is the time to shelter from these hazardous winds.
While no additional significant rainfall is forecast, the NWS warns of the potential for major flooding. Emergency plans should account for possible evacuations and rescues. Residents in flood-prone areas should strongly consider protective actions. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Extensive impacts from flooding are possible, including widespread evacuations, structural damage, and numerous road closures. Rivers and tributaries may overflow rapidly.
