Tropical Storm Warning for Inland Wakulla: Major Flooding & Tornado Threat
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Inland Wakulla, with immediate threats of major flooding and numerous tornadoes; residents must prepare for potential evacuations and shelter quickly if a tornado warning is issued.
WAKULLA COUNTY, FL – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Inland Wakulla, effective immediately, October 9 at 5:05 PM EDT, expiring October 10 at 1:15 AM UTC.
Residents in Crawfordville and Wakulla Springs face a severe and immediate threat from major flooding rain and potential for numerous tornadoes. A Flood Watch and Tornado Watch are in effect. Emergency plans should include the potential for major flooding, and evacuations and rescues are likely. Strong protective actions are advised, especially in flood-vulnerable areas. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act may result in serious injury or loss of life.
While sustained winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force (10-20 mph with gusts to 40 mph), gusty conditions are possible. Little to no storm surge inundation is forecast, but rough surf, coastal erosion, and life-threatening rip currents are possible. If a tornado warning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly.
