A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Coastal Wakulla, including Saint Marks and Panacea, with life-threatening storm surge and major flooding expected; residents must remain sheltered and heed all warnings.

A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Coastal Wakulla, including Saint Marks and Panacea, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL today, October 9, at 8:28 AM EDT. Residents are urged to remain sheltered in a safe location due to the ongoing threat of life-threatening storm surge and potential for major flooding.

Key concerns include peak storm surge inundation of 4-6 feet above ground in surge-prone areas, continuing through Saturday morning. NWS advises that flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete, and evacuees should be in shelters well away from storm surge flooding. Potential impacts from the main surge event are currently unfolding.

A Flood Watch is also in effect with additional rainfall of 4-8 inches expected, which could lead to major flooding, prompting evacuations and rescues. Do not venture outside. If a tornado warning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly. The alert remains effective until 4:30 PM UTC today.
