Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Inland Wakulla; Prepare for Flooding and Tornadoes
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Inland Wakulla, including Crawfordville and Wakulla Springs, until 10:15 AM EDT today, with a high threat of major flooding and potential for tornadoes; residents should prepare for significant impacts.
WAKULLA COUNTY – A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Inland Wakulla, including Crawfordville and Wakulla Springs, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL, effective immediately as of October 10 at 2:07 AM EDT. This severe warning is in effect until 10:15 AM EDT today.
Residents should prepare for potential major flooding due to heavy rainfall, as a Flood Watch remains in effect. Additional rainfall of around 1 inch is forecast, which could lead to extensive impacts, including widespread flooding, evacuations, and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may overflow, and many structures could be affected. Driving conditions will likely become dangerous with potential road closures.
A Tornado Watch is also in effect, with conditions favorable for several tornadoes. The NWS advises that if a tornado warning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly. Scattered tornadoes could cause significant damage, including power loss and communication failures.
While sustained winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force (10-15 mph with gusts to 35 mph), gusty conditions are still possible. Little to no storm surge inundation is forecast. Community officials are currently assessing realized wind impacts, with little to no additional wind impacts expected.
