A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Coastal Wakulla, including Saint Marks and Panacea, effective October 10 at 2:07 AM EDT by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL. This warning signifies a life-threatening storm surge is possible, with potential inundation of 2-4 feet above ground in surge-prone areas, especially around high tide. The NWS advises that flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete. Evacuees must be in shelters well away from storm surge flooding. Residents are urged to remain sheltered in a safe location and avoid venturing outside.
In addition to the storm surge, a Flood Watch is in effect for Coastal Wakulla, with potential for major flooding from heavy rain, and a Tornado Watch is also active, indicating the possibility of several tornadoes. Peak winds are forecast between 10-20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, but sustained winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force.
